A sump pump sits unnoticed until the day it matters, usually during heavy rain or a spring thaw. If it fails then, the basement floods. Pumps wear out, switches stick, and discharge lines clog, and often the first sign of trouble is water on the floor. We install sump pumps, maintain existing ones and upgrade older systems. Maintenance means checking that the pump starts, moves water and shuts off, and that the discharge line is clear. If your pump is old, noisy or running constantly, we can tell you whether it is worth keeping or whether it is time to replace it. ## Common questions

How do I know if my sump pump needs replacing?

Warning signs include a pump that runs constantly, makes grinding noises, cycles on and off rapidly, or does not start when the pit fills. An older pump that has never been tested is also worth checking.

Should a sump pump be maintained?

Yes. Testing the pump and clearing the pit and discharge line before the wet season helps catch problems while they are still small.

What should I do if my sump pump fails during a storm?
